[smilie=a_doh.gif]

I got one stinky egg in the incubator, it was only day 7 when it either exploded or just fell apart.

Either way it doesn't matter as there is only pieces left of it and I figure I need to remove it.

I am about to go and clean it out but just wondering what the concequences might be on the other eggs.

Could the entire 47 other eggs be contaminated now ?

I have 2 temp guages going, one is built into the incubator and the other is a seperate independant one so my temp hasn't been too hight or anything

I had an egg burst at about day 17 I think I just took out the shell and cleaned it as best and as quick as I could and left it until the incubator was empty all the other eggs hatched and they were fine. It was hard to clean off in the end as it was baked on by then

If the incubator is still going you cannot clean it out or you will destroy the other eggs just take out the broken shells and very quickly any egg and leave it be

Well it all turned into a disaster.

Still no idea what happened to the missing egg but the stink coming from the incubator was horrible. I run 2 temp gauges to I'm confident temp was good.

What I hadn't noticed was that it had stopped turning the eggs, and as to when I don't know.

I had no idea if I should continue as I was only day 9. I thought as they may have been sitting still for days perhaps there were more stinkies about to explode so I sacked them.

Just out of interest I cracked them all into the bin that night. Out of 48 eggs there were 2 rotten ones, 4 with nothing the rest all had a little chick forming.

So, did I do the wrong thing or if I had started turning manually, may the chicks had made it even if they had been sitting still for the first 9 days.

:(

If you stopped turning the eggs to soon the chicks will die they need to be turned 2-3 days before hatching date. Do you have auto turner?

Yes, the auto turner failed, so not exactly sure when though. It is highly likely that they spent the first 2 days turning then the following 8 not turning. It only dawned on me then that they were always facing the same way every time I looked in, so after some more research I discovered the motor for the turner had seized.
