Hi BobC
who are you asking? doggo perhaps?

doggo wrote:
I am not an expert on this but suspect my Rcom has some more delicate electronics involved with the temperature / humidity measuring and switching and display etc.

I have an Rcom and have no worries with my generator = I did my homework to ensure the one I got did what I needed = work out the kilowattage needed for your machine/s then get one that has a slightly higher kw output

and - BobC welcome2.gif (I see this is your 2nd post) - glad you are here :-D

I don't have a definite answer to this partly because there are many different makes and types of generators. There is more to AC power supply than simple volts and watts but the science is too hard for me. Most generators are probably perfectly OK to run an incubator with solid state electronic components particularly if a surge protector is used to reduce the chance of damage by voltage spikes.
If I didn't have my home made incubator I would run my Rcom off the generator with a surge protector.
Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than I can give a more definite answer.

We had an outage today because of pole replacements took them 4 hours but the incubator seemed ok because it was so hot 39 at 2.30pm so I hope the eggs are all good still

Should be ok cause the inc temp is 38 and you say it was 39 so drop 1 or 2 inside the incubator so still should be ok from my understanding

3hrs shouldnt pose a big problem as the chicks are fully formed and have their own body heat (for want of a better explanation = having a blonde moment  ) their own heat would maintain temp in the machine well enough for that short amount of time
they may hatch a bit late but that is all I can imagine being a problem
remember too that most of OZ is hot atm and that would help

let us know how they go wont you - today being Saturday
