For the sellers - do you provide replacement eggs, refund or a disclaimer on your eggs? Only for posted eggs, or both posted and picked up?
For the buyers - do you expect replacement eggs or a refund? Only on picked up eggs or on posted eggs as well?
What do think is an acceptable agreement for both parties?

I think a disclaimer on your eggs would be good even like 'no refunds if they don't hatch' I think its hard to have any guarantees for the seller or the buyer to be honest but if you purchased 12 eggs and all were not fertile then I would expect the seller to replace them I think

A Disclaimer and/or Terms and Conditions of Sale are necessary as the seller cannot be held responsible for OZ Post handling, or the transporting of personally collected eggs or the vagaries of incubators not known to them = cannot be held responsible for the actions of others.
Most will happily replace eggs but note that 2 from 12 is a good hatch for posted eggs = to expect more or all to hatch is unrealistic. But to get more hatch is a bonus.
I do think the buyer needs to cover the costs for the 2nd lot of eggs sent.

If all eggs sent show to be non viable – yes replacement eggs.
With hatch rates or lack thereof it is a trust/honesty situation of course.

Its a hard one because the seller has no idea how the eggs were treated during postage but more important how the buyer treated the eggs??????? so it really is trust on both sides

Exactly right on all points

It's the the risk the buyer takes when they have eggs posted out so I personally wouldn't ask for replacement eggs or a refund in that situation. Do your homework and research for reputable breeders and if at all possible collect the eggs.

Loo Loo and Hens and Hobbits state very well

I use a Terms and Conditions and have for a long time now

regards research = yes do yr research = not all that advertise eggs are reputable = some just get into 'chooks' to 'make a quick buck' and DO rip off the unsuspecting :( [smilie=rlp_smilie_318.gif] [smilie=a_whyme.gif]

I have not purchased any as yet but I will be soon and I would hope there is some guarantee on the eggs at least being fertile otherwise someone could send me supermarket eggs that are not stamped as many organics are not
