I have just taken delivery of a new R.COM pro 20 incubator .I have run it now for two days empty to calibrate the temp and humidity and found the temp to be a constant 37.5 and the humidity 45% .this is the preset conditions for hen eggs in the unit .the temp seems ok but is the humidity a little low for hen eggs in the first 18 days thanks for any advice Bruce.

The temp seems a touch low, but may be fine.

If you'd asked six months ago, I'd have said the humidity was too low. Not any more. It is probably MEANT to be 45% for that particular model of that particular size.

I looked after a mate's incubator a few months back and my digital hygrometer read between 30 and 45% the whole time. I was concerned, but the water tray took up the whole bottom of the incubator and was full. It had to be ok. There was only one fertile egg in the batch, but it did hatch with no problems.

Even my Kevatron has been sitting on what I considered LOW humidity readings for the past few hatches.

Leave the settings alone and test it with some fertile eggs.

Ran the incubator on test for a few days and it was using a bit of water and condensation on inside of glass .Put 20 silkie and wyndotte eggs in yesterday so here goes ,the person I got them from has had good fertility so will soon see if all ok with factory settings

Just wanted to report that I have 12 chickens running around a couple more eggs are still pipping 1 seems to have died in shell and there were 5 infertile . I would recomend these incubators as I have never hatched an egg in an incubator before this ,hope it was not just beginners luck . :-D

Good stuff mate 1 dead in shell in not uncommon 12 from 20 is not too bad for you first go.

A further update I now have 14 healthy chicks in the brooder .As I said earlier 1 dead in shell and 5 infertile ,not much I can do about the infertile ones as the eggs were a gift and the people have lots of silkies so hard to tell what went wrong there .
