Hi wave.gif

I have two rapidly growing babies who are now 3 weeks old & are getting a lot of pin feathers coming up everywhere all over their little bodies, and due to this rapid growth they are starting to out grow their little brooder/cage I have them in.

I need to build a new brooder box for them but would love some hints and see other peoples brooder boxes to try and work out a good size.

Would anyone be willing to post a picy of their brooder box that they have for their chicks?

Cheers
Chicka-Dee

I know [smilie=a_goodjobson.gif] ,I've been following your journey and I did ask you a question but never got an answer :(

If anyone has picys of their brooder boxes & what they used that would be really deeply appreciated as I know others would benefit too. [smilie=a_goodjobson.gif]

Cheers
Chicka-Dee

 Sorry Chicka-Dee, I completely missed that question. It was a kids' toy storage bench off dealsdirect.com.au for about $50 - we cut the corner out and screwed on an A4 piece of perspex (about $5 off eBay) while the chicks were little, then took the perspex off and added a ladder when they were a bit bigger so they could access heat as they wished but weren't stuck in the box all the time.

I was pretty happy with it - it was thick melamine, so heavy, but easy to wipe clean with white king wet wipes.

No biggie Blak, so much going on, on this forum not hard to miss :-D

$50 [smilie=a_holycrap.gif] SCORE ! [smilie=a_goodjobson.gif]

I bought a blanket box today for $50 and I'm going to turn it into my brooder box as well on the weekend. I will post pics when it's done. :-D

But I really love yours Blak as I like the look of the easy clean white:-D

What a great brooder. Have you put some wire or Perspex on the windows.

Thanks Chickababe wave.gif . Yep, it's got vermin proof wire which has the really, really small squares :-D
