Is it possible for a black raven to steal my ducks eggs from out of the nesting box in broad day light. I know there were 2 eggs on tuesday now theres none and no trace of them and at the same time I have noticed 3 ravens hanging around the coop could these ravens steal the eggs

Yes they certainly do and once they know where they are you will find that they will continually come and steal them.

Do you have a roof of your coop?

I agree....once the ravens (or crows) know about a good/reliable source of eggs they will be back for more.....a roof over your coop/pen is the only option here....

I have the same trouble and have always wondered do the scarecrows work? I mean really work? has anyone tried them with any success?

scarecrows dont work crow proofing pens does

I have watched as a crow flew off with a goose egg they are good at what they do = scavenge for food and one of their favs is egg

they will keep coming back daily until the laying season is over - as I was ill most of last year I lost all but a handful of my turkeys eggs to crows

cover the pen in a way that the crows cant rip it open - YES they WILL rip open shade cloth so wire mesh is advised and double check for any spots they could squeeze thru to get in = clever and cunning are the 2 words to be used regards crows

It is also worth noting that they will enter a pen with a roof if they work out the door is open.

Those crows are smart buggers I think they know when they hens lay and come at that time to pinch them from the garden if my girls don't make it back to the coop to lay in the box which is regular as they wonder far from home some days

they sure do coz the hens (and often the roosters) scream their heads off announcing an egg has just been laid = if only we could breed silent roosters and no scream hens!!
