hi, im a newbe to ducks ive only had them about 9 months,i have a pair of runners & 5 muscovy ducks & 2 muscovy drakes.
at the moment my runner duck is sitting on eggs & the drake has started to turned his atention to the muscovy ducks, he is realy giving them the shits, he has cut the backs of there heads. & they have gone of the lay
before the runner duck went broody he was not so violent towards her.

WHAT SHOULD I DO???? [smilie=a_doh.gif]
??is this normal.....??does he require more runner ducks to keep him busy....??why is he so violent towards the muscovy ducks

Ideally the 2 breeds should be housed seperately.
If you don't they can and will cross, the result sterile hybrid mules.
A couple more Runner ducks will keep him occupied while one of the ducks is setting.
His aggression as you witness is more than likely his attmpts to mate.Muscovies are notorious for breeding with any other breed and if ducks are not available then to try thier luck with chooks, guinea fowl and turkeys.
With your Runner setting you have a ratio of 5 ducks to 3 available drakes, the constant stress and attention fromm all 3 males could well be the reason your muscovies have ceased to lay.
I would suggest getting a couple more Runner females and get rid of 1 Muscovy male.
Good luck.

Mine were the same they hated the muscovy duck I had but I keep them in separate coops and only let them out when the others are locked away plus I do not want them to x breed so good advice from oaklands

All duck breeds should be kept apart if you want them to be and stay pure
