My family of ducks have not laid an egg since October last year.
The Indian Runners were first to stop.
The last to stop were my Khaki Campbell around February.
Even my Chickens have stopped laying.

Is anybody else having the same problem
or
Is there a reason for this - they were all laying very well but their off period has gone on for much too long.
Last year they slowed down through winter - but this time they have stopped completely.
We are on property inland from Bundaberg Qld, so it is not THAT cold !!!!

I have tried changing their feed - No success.
They are all wormed.
They are not old birds I just don't know what the problem is.
they are allowed out to graze regularly.
any suggestions.

Thank you
Diane.

How old are they?
What do you feed them?
Are they in any stress like foxes around or dogs?

Hi.
in Reply.
1). They are of cause mixed ages - with some just around 1 year and others around two years.
We run 5 different Breed :-
Indian Runners - Khaki Campbell - Welsh Harlequin - Pekin & Aylesbury all separated of cause.
even the 30 Farm Chook's are not laying !!!!
2). We have tried different selections of feed from Pellets to Mash with Lucern Chaff & Mill Run tried Steam Rolled Mallased Barley.
We were feeding Pellets for many years with No Problems.
Only slowed down in winter.
3). I don't think they would be 'stressed' for 6-7 months.

Thank you
Diane.

Hi,

I have muscovies and they all stopped laying at the end of april, I'm not expecting them to start again until the weather starts to get warmer again. They usually do all their laying in spring/summer/autumn if I'm lucky I might get a small clutch in winter(though I think muscovies lay less than other ducks). My sister has 4 chooks and they've all stopped laying for the last couple of months as well.. just her little bantam has started laying again this week, but not the others.

Hi Diane

Its the time of year really, my ducks are mating but not laying, the chooks are slow if anything, some are laying a few like my brown leghorn she laid a clutch and then stopped. Some of my new pullets are just starting laying and the turkey hen is just starting.

Really your flock sounds healthy and well fed and you will find that they will all start in time, possibly when the weather begins to warm more.
