Other than some zoos do any breeders have or want the wandering whistling duck

I find them to be very amusing and soothing listening to their whistles and shrieks as they chat amongst themselves. They are more vocal ATM, coming into spring in w.a.

They are very noisy at times especially when breeding

Yes they are and prolific breeders too its not surprising they are doing so well against the non natives

We get hundreds on both our dams and they make a racket the best noise they make is the flap of their wings when they leave

I assume you have domestic ducks do they raid their food?

Yes we do and they do get into our ducks food costs a twice as much so of late we only feed our ducks by hand

I do the same because of the black ducks stealing my ducks tucker but I still leave the natives a little to eat

But that just entices them to come back for more I am trying to discourage them so no food here

They are native so its their home

you should feed your domestic ducks in a coop that is roofed and that will keep the native ducks out. Personally I feed them but thats me
