Hi guys, im new into the waterfowl and i am asking for some advice. :) *sorry if this isn't the right section to post it*. I have eggs from some chinese geese off a friend of mine. They are brown, white and muti-coloured. i was wondering what the going rate is for this breed of geese and does the colour change the pricing? Any tips on incubation would be greatly appreciated :). I know they require HIGH humidity and during the end of the incubation need to be fully submerged in water for 1 minute a day. is this information correct?

Cheers
Nick.

I can’t help you regards prices as I don’t have Chinese, others might be able to help tho Any tips on incubation would be greatly appreciated :). I know they require HIGH humidity doesn’t need to be overly high tho - I have found abt 60% works well with my geese and during the end of the incubation need to be fully submerged in water for 1 minute a day. I don’t recommend this and have never heard of anyone doing it - the idea is to imitate the mother goose and to this day I have never seen one pick up an egg and hold it under the water for 1minute then to go and repeat the process for each egg – some will quickly get off the nest and have a drink and splash a bit of water around in the process, this then transfers to the eggs when they get back to the nest but it is not a submersion of the eggs not by any means, so just splashing a small amount of water on the egg/s or even just an extremely fine mist spray once a day on the egg/s in the machine to up the humidity should be fine is this information correct?

Cheers
Nick.

hope this helps
I incubate the extra geese eggs each year that dont end up under a goose and often forget to mist them and they always seem to hatch ok

Cheers
Sue

Well said Sue.
I think the dunking of eggs in water may have been suggested by someone with inappropriate incubation/hatching techniques.

Welcome to the forum Nick and good luck with your geese.

Thanks guys :) Really appreciate it. :) i have herd the dunking technique by a few people now.... this is what i got told.

Turn eggs 4 times a day - 180 degree angle. High humidity
and sprinkled daily with warm water at 37.5 degrees. (I just use a spray
bottle) After day 15, eggs should be submerged every 2nd day in 37.5 degree
water, and then daily in the last week (for 1 minute). 80% humidity
until they pip, then reduce down to 70%. Transfer eggs to hatcher
on the 27th day of incubation, eggs only dipped or sprayed once after transferred.
Mine never got transferred but I just didn't turn them anymore.
Leave goslings in hatcher for 2-4 hours after hatch is completed then
place under light.

How does that sound?

Cheers
Nick.

"fully submerged in water for 1 minute a day"
No way that is very wrong, if you need to raise the humidity a light spray with a water bottle is more than enough never submerge any egg
