I am some what new to having geese and yesterday I was told at the produce to feed my geese lucien and it had to be very green and pref chaff style. Now I have had a horse years ago and I know how rich lucien is and so I need to ask if it is too rich for geese to eat on a every second day routine?

Yes you can but only in moderation and maybe twice a week they are best to graze on green grass

Just start with small amounts and spread on the ground so its natural foraging

plenty enough for geese now breeding season is over - they are called the lawnmowers of the bird world with good reason - a goodmix of growing pastures is usually all they need - have you thought about seeding their paddock with lucerne = NOT too much just a bit and also other grasses to give a good variety for them

Seeding their paddock with lucerne

Thats a good idea it will self regulate their intake

BINGO - you got it in one CW [smilie=a_goodjobson.gif] a_bravo.gif
Coxs Grass is another that is good for geese
IF and I really do mean IF you use Rye Grass = MAKE BLEEPING SURE IT IS THE ENDOPHYTE FREE TYPE = normal Rye Grass gives Rye staggers and if you have Alpacas with your birds NEVER EVER EVER have 'normal Rye' ONLY the endohpyte free type
The regular can be toxic to Alpacas, actually to all the camelids

Our geese are not a big fan of the lucien they will eat a small amount while grazing and I agree that grazing is the best way to offer the lucien to them they will only eat a small amount and move on
