Tall tales abound about geese living to 80, personally I can't see it happening very often. Usually 20 is old for a domestic goose.

I had a goose that lived to 20yrs - she laid 2 eggs that year - her life long mate went at 15 years so she was very much a pet and MUCH spoilt after losing her 'husband'

anything over 20/22yrs I would be very doubtful regards breeding ability and 80 - nope dont believe that for a second

yep = my old girl was mother, grandmother etc times 18 generations in her time
she was actually the best egg layer I had - but from 15 onwards the numbers decreased significantly each year to those last 2

be very aware that as they get past 10yrs the egg size increases and the number decreases each year after that = BUT - I have found that goslings hatched from a 10yr old mothers eggs hatch easily (in comparison) and are good strong babies
