 Post subject: clip the wings

If I was to clip the wings on my pekin ducks is there a do and don't on how to cut them and is there a preferred wing to clip?

Yes the best is not to clip them at all they will be so venerable to foxes ect.. you should not need to clip any common domestic duck breed they should stay put if they are happy

As I learnt the hard way and lost all 3 in 1 night to foxes we think could have been wild dogs we are not sure but never will we do that again

I clipped mine but they were in a large run and it was to stop them flying over the fence until they got used to their new home, worked well for me

No they are a commercially breed waterfowl and cannot fly. a 3ft fence is more than enough for them. ColacWaterfowl is correct do not clip them

Yes my point was not that they can fly but they can use their wings for ground speed run and flap gives them much more speed to flee from predators
