Good topic Weston th_clap.gif

The fat rouen is no1 commercial table duck for sure only good for eating but they are very fatty so an acquired taste

The others are good all rounders for pets, showing and eating [smilie=a_goodjobson.gif]

I would put the muscovy at no1 I think more meat less fat than the rouen. Your right the Muscovy, Aylesbury & Pekin are far better pets and show quality is 1000 fold better than rouens at the moment

What the best age or weight to slaughter the rouens?
Also what best for a quick fattening for them?
Heaps of bread?

Go on weight at about 4.5kg for the rouen as a commercial breed you feed up on protein based food

The rouen is not popular with novice to experienced breeders as its not a challenge to breed so its idea for the beginner to practice on before moving on to show breed ducks and they have a good meal when they move on 1 or 2 years later

Because the rouen is a commercial breed do they still breed like non commercial ducks or are they just a genetic stuff up?

Stuart, they still breed all be it poorly compared to the non commercial breeds because they are a large table fowl they are also not good brooders
