Setting up a new duck coop and I am at the stage of interior design and looking now at nest boxes and if they will use them and what type you guys use. Do the ducks use nest boxes? Is wood better than metal? What do you line them with?

Sorry for so many question

Hi, I have muscoveys and they either use the chooks wooden nesting boxes, which I have to scrub out after, or medium plastic dog kennels. I also use the large black plastic trays that plasterers use. I have to make a removable cover for them though.
My ducks also fly up into the chooks nesting boxes. (different type..home made).
I line it with either hay, sugar cane mulch or wood shavings.
No problems there with either of those.

The trouble with wood is its never quite cleaned properly and takes days to dry out

The wooden nest boxes were for thhooks.
The ducks just take over sometimes to get away from the drakes as the boxes are about a metre off the ground. They are also private and easy to get into for them.
I don't know where you are 2drakes but the boxes don't take long to dry here. I am sure that you would know that ducks can be pig headed at times. ;)
