Seeking your wisdom please.

I recently purchased 7 show champion blood line call ducks from a lady and they are all well and settled well but I have been looking at pictures of call ducks in the united Kingdom and they look different to the ones I have and others I have seen in shows and pictures of on web site of call ducks in australia. The big difference is the head size and the bill size, shape and colour is very different to the ones in the Untied Kingdom so my question is do we have a different call duck to those in every other country?

Sorry to tell you but there are no "good quality" or "good blood lines" left in Australia they disappeared about 12 ish years ago, If you look at the current decoy ducks (call ducks to the layman) the head is oversize to start with then look at the bill as you mentioned and all are far too long and not rounded enough. Also bill colour is an issues. The last true decoys I saw was from a lady down in tassie and she first bred many colours like Pied and Trout but since being sold some have stuffed them up. The only option now is to import them via a syndicate and make sure they don't breed with the poor quality here already

I was told that by a few others so not a surprise really I was told there still are a few decent calls in Tasmania but thats it. Is there any plans to legally import some pure calls from the UK?

The only good calls I have been made aware of are as you say down in Tasmania, unfortunately I have not seen then so I am only going on reports, the guy you would be looking for would be John Blizzard.

Its such a shame we are down to 1 breeder with good call ducks but lets hope they can come back but I wonder if importing from the UK is the answer to this problem

I would love to import some true call ducks I reckon they would sell for a high price as we have none in oz so they would be popular big time
