fingers crossed attatched are pics of my chicken run & coop....it is made from an old out door toilet, solid brick with a door that gets closed in the rain & at nite. they have a sandy area behind the water tank where they can have a dust bath, and a large grassy area to graze all day

Great use of the outdoor dunny! Lucky, chooks! I totally agree about getting out into the fresh air with your chooks, they are perfect pets for children and they are great therapy for all. |

thanks guys, it was a part of they yard that never got used & the out door toilet was something that i wanted to rip down, as it never got used, but i wasn't allowed, so i decided to use it for some chickens....it is warm, doesn't leak, has a door to keep out the wind, all i had to do to it was put in a roost & a nesting box & cover the ground with straw, for the run i got some old tin from the recycle place & some wire with some post......the whole thing cost around $400 that included feed, chickens, straw, food/water bowls, plants, mite/wormer stuff, tin & wire....so i thought that was a pretty good amount to spend, i was lucky in only had to build one fence.... my girls are 16 weeks tomorrow & will start to switch them over to layer pellets, doing it slowly over two weeks, so as to not upset their tummies thanks again guys |

Money well invested! Good idea going to the recycle yard. Hope that your returns are bountiful and that you have an abundance of eggs... |
