Post subject:  Chicken Town - Peaceful Chookie Harmony
With another broody hen and the backyard starting to look like a chook shanty town...I suggested that we move to a "rural" classified acreage where we could keep 75 chooks and not the lousy 4 in our now rezoned "urban" area that our shire permits at the moment...

My son sat me down and has spoken to me about the dangers of chatting with strange chook people on the internet...He wanted to know if we were all "furry's"; ie people that dress up in chicken costumes and as MrsM suggested on her post, meet for coffee sidesplit.gif He is studying VCE psychology and wants to find the underlying reason of this chook obsession that has possessed his mother. The daughter suggested that we move to an acreage, start up a chook cult and chook commune and all live in peaceful chookie harmony...

It is nice to be young and have dreams of peace and harmony surrounded by chooks, chooks and more chooks...

Well the local bush telegraph is running HOT about our Chook Shanty Town, have people better things to do with their lives than gossip about our chooks and their accommodation? I mean our chooks are environmentally friendly, hurt no one and aren't out after curfew killing the indigenous wildlife at night.

Why must people and especially councilors move into once peaceful rural areas, and bring with them their inner city suburban ways???

Because bureaucrats love telling people what they can and can't do instead of using common sense to deal with individual situations!!

Sadly, our neighbour's have nothing better to do in their empty meaningless lives that to mind everyone else's business and gossip on our local bush telegraph which runs faster than the bushfires that decimated the area.

Through in the ridiculous rezoning from semi rural/rural to urban by the shire and that 4 chook limit that went with it, and suddenly the we have Neighbourhood Chook Watch.
