Don't mean to alarm you, but there is a greater density of foxes in the city than the country!

ahahahahaha, that would be right.... knowing my luck.

never seen a fox. never hear of a fox being around here... never had any of my neighbours say they have seen or heard of foxes. there is a lady across the road who has a HUGE open chicken pen. the fences wouldn't even make it chest height. she hasn't had problems. she's also the one with the open rabbit hutch. and never lost a rabbit.

I do have an aviary and several bird cages outdoors.... haven't had issues with the birds. so was just presuming i wouldn't with the chicks too.

i'll do my best to predator proof. was just saying it's not really an issue though. compared to reading some of the stories others write about regular predator visitors.

The Pretty One who is the oldest of my chooks was extremely vocal very early this morning cackling away and waking everyone up. She was on the perch of the mansion cackling away...Lady Frances was hiding in the nesting box, and the her boys up in the mezzanine level of the chook tractor, a not so welcome "bushy long-tailed gentleman" was on the property. The Pretty and Lady Frances are safe as they have a wire mesh floor, The Pretty One eggsperienced with visits from"bushy long-tailed gentleman", but she had Mr. Rooster to protect her. Thankfully she was loud enough to wake everyone up alert her boys to hide out of sight, mum running in her PJ's out in the fog to see what all the noise was about...

Foxes and domesticated predators are everywhere so don't be complacent.

I wasn't being smug or complacent.

I just didn't see it as an issue. But saying that i will do my best to "PROOF" the pen but just with lack of building skills it could possibly fail... i wont know unless something gets in or out i guess. but nothing has got in the first pen i build so the bigger better pen should be right. :)

when you have never learnt to build you just hope what you do create stands up to the purpose. with fingers crossed. ;)

so very true....

I have all the power tools you can think of... but can i use them..... probably but i wouldn't know what is for what and what each one is used for... i stick to hand saws, hammer and nail and the trusty drill... but i have ruined most of the drill bits....LOL

who needs a book.... LOL, let the creativity fly ! thinkerg.gif

Funny thing is, if you are in an accident, it's most likely will soil your pants anyway.

For that reason, just don't wear underwear. Problem solved.

Getting back to the original post.
I started my coop ! yeeehaaaa.... I put 2 posts in to the ground. Then i quit. because shovelling deep holes is a lot of effort... good effort i say ! LOL. Making coops is hard work.... at this rate i'll be finished in about a year.... [smilie=a_rolling.gif]
