Great idea Beaktime, is that foam on your feeder pipe? If it is that's a very good idea, stops the water getting too hot.So too with the small cups, the chooks drink the water before it heats up too much. I've used Bellsouths drinkers (similar) and they work a treat, you do need to keep a watch on the little floats (yellow/white). The chooks will eventually wear them out with their impatient, playful or curious pecking.

What does that sort of system cost for 30 hens in 2 coops? The coops are connected and it would have to run about 12 feet in total

I use the cut plastic bottles in the show cages and training pens nice and cheap and quick to replace if they break it

These cups actually use a push release valve instead of a float valve so they have a longer life with the abuse put on by the chooks.

Dimmity - I don't know if you were talking about these cups but they are rated for 40 chickens so one in each coop would work.

The insulation on the cups keeps it warmer when it is cold and colder when it is cold. It works pretty well and holds well.
