We have been working on our coop over the last 4wks. Poor husband works at our business 6.5 days a week so we only have Saturday afternoons and Sundays to try and get all the work done at present.

We have built it from scratch reusing bits and pieces from some homes we are demolishing at the moment.

This is a front view - I just have to finish painting the windows before DH installs them. Then I can paint the front of the coop.

This is the run - DH is still to build a gate and then we will install heavy duty wiring to the frames.
Image

The coop is divided into two sections - the front one is for me to store all the necessities for chicken keeping and we are using a sliding door to contain the chooks.
Image

Inside the chicken part. Hatch to outside, DH has built three nesting boxes which open into the front room (I am still to install a piece of timber on top to stop the chickens from roosting on top of the boxes) as well as the roosting ladder thingy.

We are hoping to have it finished by next weekend so we can pick up some chickens we made an offer on 5wks ago.

Any advice or comments are greatly appreciated since we are newbies to owning chickens.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. We built our dream home eighteen months ago and this coop is in the front yard. So it had to be "pretty" as well as functional LOL since it will be one of the first things visitors see. [smilie=thanks.gif]

What can I say - when DH actually puts his mind to something he is brilliant. Meanwhile there are still things unfinished around our home from 18mths ago LOL.
