extra veg left over

If I have extra veg left over from harvest can I just throw them in the coop with the roots and all or should I cut them up and throw the roots away?

It depends on the plant, most roots are ok but some have toxins. Potatoes are bad (although they are tubers) but most plants are not dangerous. If you listt the specific types of plants, I might be able to help you. I feed the vegetables and plants from my garden roots and all.

I feed mine all of those and they are healthy and happy just cut the roots off if you are worried

Green potato is toxic even to humans, onions and alot of people don't give avocado because it is said to be toxic to birds, you will always find someone who has given every single one of these (and others) to their chooks with absolutely no ill effects. The only thing I would omit from your list would be potato and once you omit that I wouldn't bother taking the roots from the others as they are all harmless.

Thank you both I did know about green potato that is good to know. I saw on the dr harry show about avocado being toxic so have never given them that
