Can I have 4 small hens in the same cage as a sulphur crested cockatoo? the cage is fairly large at 5 feet long by 6 feet wide by 6 feet high

Are you going to let your s/c cockatoo free range with your not so large chooks?

that is a very small space in which to have chickens, without considering the freeranging question, so probalby a maximum of two birds, along with hte cocky living up above.

I have chooks in will Alexandrines and couple of Indian ring necks, did have long billed corrella's and there is no why I would put chooks in their cage unless I wanted them ripped to pieces and chewed up so with a large cockatoo I would not put the chooks in possible harms way.

I would not do it as cockies can be really nasty and may attack your small hens especially sulphur crested cockatoo

No defiantly not letting the cockatoo out he would fly away. I had quails in the bottom and he did not hurt them? is it because the chickens are bigger?

Now why would your cocky fly away? Doesn't cocky like his/her cage? Now I'm sure to ruffle a few feathers here but putting parrots, cockies, peafowl etc. in a cage is akin to housing chickens in a battery cage system.

G'day George, I must admit I was having a bit of a chuckle as I walked away from the computer.
Then again, I do feel a certain dicomfort when I see a bird, that can fly vast distances during the course of it's lifetime, caged in cramped conditions. I'm sure it's not for the birds pleasure. Is that fair comment, George.

I agree birds in small cages are not for me either but most I would say are kept well and safe in large enough cages to suit the bird.
