Greetings

We consider to buy chicken tractor made of aluminum.
2.25m long, 1.3m wide and 0.8m high,

the brand in our mind is royal rooster - chicken roll.

it will be with fox proof floor, and Weather Shields.

we desire to house there 4 girls and 1 boy, Silkie bantams.

We are living in the Northern Tablelands in NSW, so it cold in the winter with mild summer.

As it is for me the first time of having chickens, may you advice about the pro and cons of this choice (chicken tractor and Silkie bantams) .

best regards

Sounds good to me make sure they get the winter sun but not the summer sun and have good bedding in the roost for warmth in winter. With 5 in there are you planning to let them out during the day?

Greetings
There is foxes around here, we considered to let them out only if
we are in eye contact with them.

Do you feel it will be for them, uncomfortable and stressful being in the tractor
most of the time ?

best regards

Is this the Chicken Roll from Royal Rooster that you plan on purchasing?

http://www.royalrooster.com.au/products ... icken-Roll

Here is an earlier topic on a tractors vs fixed coops
viewtopic.php?f=43&t=11717

I have a rather large walk in A frame chook tractor that has a mezzanine level and ladder and also a magnificent chook mansion complete with ramp and nesting box. There are a photos of my tractor and mansion in the photo gallery under poultry housing. I think that is is good to have both and also a fox/rodent proof chook run as lack of space can result in some anti social behaviour amongst your flock.

The foxes are very cunning, my chooks free range only under supervsion as foxes and sadly even dogs :( are rampant this season.

I went with the mobile tractor because of the security of moving the hens close to the house each night then out during day light hours also no long term smell and they always have fresh ground to forage in

Hi, rbigos,

Just went on the Royal Rooster website, is this one an option after a lottery win?

http://www.royalrooster.com.au/products ... tle-Royale

Good luck may you have many hours of happiness watching your chooks.
