thinkerg.gif thanks for the idea!
you always see huge slabs of concrete being chucked out... I am gonna get some one metre square blocks of concrete, and hope fully save A LOT of money: more money left from concrete, the more for better chicken wire... :-D
roof will be that clear, plastic colourbond stuff, used for roofing,
the sides will be two layers of chicken mesh, the first layer, dog mesh, the second, snake mesh
the 9 poles will be 2 metres or more high,
if I can, i will erase any thing on the ground and just have above ground nesting boxes
to keep the rain out: I will put either tarps or more of that clear plastic stuff on the sides that are facing north and east

I am already looking in the papers for stuff for the prodject, but can't start in the nest week due to more RAIN!!!! [smilie=a_doh.gif]
(wet season is just becoming wet year now)
I won't get more than one new chook until I get the cage done..

and if I can get good-sized slabs, I will make the cage a bit bigger (probably 6m2)

im looking forward to it :)

I just re-read the post and found that you used Google SketchUp, downloading it now! :-D

Instead of taking photos of your computer screen you could have taken a screenshot, here is a link to explain how you do it: http://graphicssoft.about.com/cs/genera ... enshot.htm

Cheers, Cam

It seems really great. I've watched a few of the videos on how to use it. Which template did you use?

I used the simple meters one :-D
the good thing is, with the tape measure, you can make it to scale - another bonus!

right now I have calculated the cost of just the concrete if we buy it without the slabs - $269 !!!

mum doesn't seem convinced with getting another chicken coop..
so, what I am going to ask to do is:
near the shed there is a foot path leading to it and a retain ing wall 50 cm away, I will concrete to the retaining wall, then attatch the chook cage to my "man cave"
and hope fully then I will still have my little garden shed, but the chook will be able to go in for some privacy :-D
and there will be a ZERO tolerance for chemicals in that shed

Good luck, Philip,

Maybe you need more lovely chookies so your mum will change her mind about them thinkerg.gif
