Here are the pictures of my new chook house. It is entirely made from the materials sourced from the rubbish tip. Window was also found there, but the glass mozaic on it was made by me (while waiting for hubby to build the house). Egg removal in at the back (3 nests), storage of feed ect will be on the side.
Now waiting for the fence before I look for some chooks chicken4.gif

Love, love, love it. Especially the mural. That is fantastic.

Where do they Lay their eggs? Is it possible to see a picy of the inside?

Cheers

Here is the inside after transportation to the site (it was to heavy to transport completed from the shed to the garden).
I don't know how high chooks can jump in a confined space, so we put some ladders inside to the roosts. Never had chooks, so it's trial and error.
Any advice appreciated!

Barbara

Chooks can actually jump quite high! I've seen my girls jump up at least 3ft to get up to somewhere they want to get to.

But the ladders can help the younger ones who aren't as confident with their jumping abilities.

So is your coop easy to clean?

The ease of cleaning remains to be discovered ;)
The big door can be opened and stuff dragged out from the floor to the front of the coup and then taken to the compost I suppose.

Yes, that is always the big question mark when building a new coop. "How easy will it be to clean."
Even with building my big pen(still to name it: Taj Mahal has been used too many times) I believe we could have done something differently to make it easier to clean. Like add another door, maybe.

It seems like the more sides you can open the better.

So, you don't have any chooks yet?

Cheers
