Hello Everyone,

I have finally finished the desk coop. woohoo4 I picked up the students desk from a garage sale recently. The coop has a nest box, a removable floor and a drawer for easy cleaning. There is a little ladder to the mezzanine level. I just have to think of a way to add a roost. Thinking time is required.

Very cool! a_bravo.gif

You could glue a support piece to the far wall (the dark brown) so you can screw the perch (or cable tie it) and glue another two slightly lower on the nest box and run side, with a cross piece between them, then the roost resting on the cross piece (maybe take a 'notch' out to keep it in place) to the back wall... Like a T.

WOW. Thats so very very clever Chicka-Dee! Love your work [smilie=a_goodjobson.gif] Would love to see some chookies in there. How many do you think?

Have you thought about on selling these? Love the recycling aspect!

Where is the roost to go?

Thanks everyone. I am pleased with how it turned out considering I am a newbie to wood work. Hubby was nowhere to be seen as it was my project completely.

Thanks cassnboys. I am going to get some silkie friends for Penny and put them in the coop for quarantine purpsoses. In the future the coop could be used for a broody or poorly chookie.

Could a roost made of two uprights and a cross piece screwed to the removable floor work?

The roost in my tractor is pretty much exactly that, except I don't have a removable floor. So the verticle supports are screwed to the top and bottom of the framework. Then, very simply, the roost is screwed into them from the outisde of the verticle supports.

I reckon you could do exactly the same! Pretty handy stuff for a new comer to building with wood!! a_bravo.gif
