Hi,
Im sure this has been covered a thousand times over but I was wondering if there was a sure fire way to stop algae growth in a clear plastic 10 ltr bottle . I use this as a reservoir for my automatic watering system

I have some plastic golf balls floating on the top that act as a gauge so I can easily check its level and reduce the surface area . (thought it may help ?)

I have been told copper pipe works .

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Cheers john

There are commercially available algae control products to add to water for stock and also for birds. I suggest going to your local pet shop (if it stocks birds) and asking them. There are lots of different names for the same product, just read the label to make sure it is safe for birds. Some products must be used only in plastic.

I use algae blocks for both my ponds and they do work well and the ducks leave them alone
You can order them online http://www.petstock.com.au/Pond-Algae-B ... 7399194941

I just buy a small bag and put a hand full in a small flat plastic basket with a sinker inside to keep it on the bottom

Apple cider vinegar works well too and they don't mind the taste but go easy just a few drops in a small bowel is all you need
