Because we have about 7 roosters (and were still adding) we needed to put our roosters in night boxes so the neighbors don't complain. well, yesterday we got a shelf that was made out of thick wood and it as a great size for some roosters, so we got it out of the big bin and put it in our trailer along with a big wooden board that was the same stuff it was made out of. So when we got home mum cut it in half with a circular saw and took out all the shelves and cut them to size. Out of that we are in the process of making one that can hold eight small roosters and one that can fit 4 large roosters.

then yesterday night we went back and got about 8 big wooden boards and we got some metal frames and metal tubing which would be great for the pens were in the process of building.

i will post pics later and maybe we can start building some night boxes and selling them to people who live in suburbia ;)

if any one wants to share any pictures of their night boxes that would be great.

I have 2 rooster night boxes now, all i did was convert a nest box in each coope and put doors on the fronts and made them a little smaller than the roo itself, its still comfy for them to sleep in.

My roos still crow  , but don't start until much later in the morning (around 7am) you can only just hear them now, which, is much better for us and the neighbours

I'll try take some pics today and post them.. :-D

Thankfully we don't have to do that but shows your love for your roosters. We have some club members that also do it with success.

Me too - you don't feel so guilty locking them up if it's already well after dark! ;)

I used to do mine just on dark and they would not kick up a fuss. some of the buggers would still crow in the box just not loud enought to wake the neighbors.
