Hi all, Firstly I don't know how to do a search in this group.
I can't see a search bar.

I was thinking about making a new watering system for my birds.
In my new watering set up I will be using a 20 litre container.
This container will have pvc piping coming off it and leading into the cage with drippers attached to the pipe.
At a guess I would say this water would last for 1 OR 2 months.
Will I end up getting algae in the container???
If so will it affect anything?? Is it harmful to the birds or me eating the eggs?? [chicken-crow

Thanks Gilbert....

Under the APF banner, after a certain numder of posts you should see FAQ, Search, Members etc Contact APF Admin re the accessibility of Search function.

There is an additive in the water to prevent algae in water containers. I WOULDN'T leave the same water in ANY water container with algae solution for 1 to 2 months EVEN in drought! I rather go thirsty or buy bottled water!

Ideally, fresh water should be given daily to your chookies. I am not sure how many days of algae modified water is safe for chookies and humans consuming the chookies' eggs. Also it would depend on the weather conditions.

gluck.gif with the development of your new watering system.

Algae needs light so keep the drum in 100 darkness and no algae. So store it in a dark shed and I agree do not leave the water in the container for 2 months birds need "fresh" water so change it every couple of weeks if its not all used up

I have mine coming directly off the water tank of the house but under gravity feed and that way they get fresh water every day and its always cool and no algae
