I have always had a lush supply of greens growing in my veggie garden but thanks to a huge dog jumping the fence and having a party in the back yard, no more greens are left and Woollies are very light-on over winter with the scraps they give away.

Until I get the garden back to full swing in Spring, where do you scrounge the goodies??? :?: :?:

If I ever run out from my veg garden I go to the small green grocer because I know their veg is fresh

Do you get scraps or have to pay for it? Woollies has been very generous must say...but Coles would rather toss theirs in the bin....wont let me take a single leaf...

We have a local farmers market who allows us to take their scraps. :-D

The big chain stores are not allowed as they're restrained by strict WH&S laws which stops them. That & them being put in the news for if you ate their rejects for personal use/consumption & you get sick from eating the rejects they gave you.

I'm amazed to hear that Woolies let's you take anything as I know they have a strict policy on that exact issue. I hope it lasts for you. The only time I can get extra from my local Woolies is when I buy a lettuce and I fill the bag with all the extra leaves that have been peeled off by other buyers, otherwise they don't let you take anything at all.

Also I sometimes ask my neighbours to save me their veggie scraps. At the beginning I get funny looks but when they start realising I have eggs that they can get off me anytime they start handing them over very willingly :-D

I am surprised woolies give you scraps as its not their policy under the health laws and the fact people have sued companies after they claim to get sick from scraps they should not have eaten

Yes I think so and thats a shame because we as kids always got the leave for the chooks from the supermarkets and they were glad to let us have them. Such a waste these day to just throw them on the rubbish tip
