saw a mouse today while the some of the stuff was taken out of the hen house

now I can clean that half too as there was a panel that could not get wet.

the mice and rats have been eating the ratsack and drinking their water

gotta mow around the run I do have a old fashioned push mower for the run itself ( its motorless)

I cleaned my pen out fully today and saw a few juicy dropping from mice so it appears by fencing out the goannas, snakes and pigeons means the two cats cant get in to kill those mices to pieces....

Cant use baits either...

Hope you beat your problem...still working on mine...guess it is part of the joy of raising chickens xxx

Excellent excersize...the blades rotate and snip the grass like a sissor..google it..i am so going to get one if someone leaves one on the council clean up...

Oh getting back ON TOPIC......i saw millions of rat pooh today since I fenced the cats out of the pen so must find a way for them (cats) to venture in there at night without disturbing the girls...the cats and hens live in purrrrfect harmony but rats are livin the dream without fear of death...yuk..i can smell vermin too.....cannot bait them but may humanely trap and remove...

Ooh, we had one of those push mowers...My brother loved using it...

I don't like mice or rats, they bring SO much disease and other maladies and how do you humanly eradicated them if you don't own a cat or dog who is a ratter???

Well PP in a perfect world I would set up a trap that allows then to enter for food but not leave so then I could take them to the bush and let them go...but, in reality I will probably let the cats in at night and drown the back of the pen in ammonia..and other horrid smelling products, none of which will work.. conf665

a touch off topic

I remember a time I caught a mouse in the bathroom using a plastic cup and paper.

The cat I had two before Montgomery his name was Indigo or indy for short.

No joke he would meow at the top of his voice to let me know he had found a mouse He never killed them or chased them.

in fact he would watch ME catch them with the cup and paper then I would put the mouse out side.
Even the dog was a better mouser then Indy.

Thank goodness Monty is a great mouser he killed his frist mouse at 5 or 6 months of age.
