Hello everyone, just recently my bantam Cara-Mel got broody we fixed that with keeping her off the nests but she has taken to pulling out all her feathers she looks terrible I am hoping that it is just her starting her moult, is it moulting season already? My other two ISA Browns haven't lost a feather yet. She also has stopped laying which is normal but now I'm a little worried. She is still eating and drinking but seems to be really self destructing in the looks department. Just want to make sure she is OK. All comments welcomed than657

Thanks Raf, When I catch her she looks like she is preening but feathers are flying out. And she is doing it in the same place in the garden. wee. wee.

Yep sounds like shes not pulling but preening during moulting but keep and eye on her to make sure new feathers start growing back and not pulled out. Also have you dusted you fowls for mites?

That is more relevant to waterfowl than chickens very few pluck to nest if any

My silkies never put feathers in their nests but they have picked up some duck feathers to use
