HI,

I have 13 SLW that i have had from a week old, i have an aviary, and also an enclosed shed where i have set up there roosts, they were kept in the aviary as chicks, and now they are 7 months old, i thought they would naturally go and roost at night. They seem to go into the aviary and all huddle together on the ground. i have started closing the aviary door at night, and they all just seem to huddle at the door until the morning, any tips on moving them on, or should i just persist with closing the avairy door and hope they get the hint to move to the roost?

Thanks

Have you tried putting them up on the perches just as it gets dark so they are perched for the night?

I have found my new girls that don't know to perch just sleep on the floor, so if I find they are doing that, I go down to the pen just on dark & put them on the roosts/perches and pretty soon they just jump up there on there own.

You may have to do this for a few days but once they realise that is a good place to sleep they will then go up there on their own.

Why don't you try that tonight?

Cheers
Chicka-Dee
