Post subject: | chickens not roosting where i want them..... |
HI, I have 13 SLW that i have had from a week old, i have an aviary, and also an enclosed shed where i have set up there roosts, they were kept in the aviary as chicks, and now they are 7 months old, i thought they would naturally go and roost at night. They seem to go into the aviary and all huddle together on the ground. i have started closing the aviary door at night, and they all just seem to huddle at the door until the morning, any tips on moving them on, or should i just persist with closing the avairy door and hope they get the hint to move to the roost? Thanks |

Howdy Have you tried putting them up on the perches just as it gets dark so they are perched for the night? I have found my new girls that don't know to perch just sleep on the floor, so if I find they are doing that, I go down to the pen just on dark & put them on the roosts/perches and pretty soon they just jump up there on there own. You may have to do this for a few days but once they realise that is a good place to sleep they will then go up there on their own. Why don't you try that tonight? Cheers Chicka-Dee |

I have tossed up if pure fowls are for me also but with my skill set not sure the fowls will get what they need. |
