Do Jap Quail fly much? I found a guy who sells eggs, though I might put a doz in the inc. to grow up to e#& (can't say that can I). Anyway I was wanting to know if I need to build something that makes it especially easy to catch them and to prevent them flying up.

Good info given there from Stuart,
they usually only do their trademark "popcorn" jump when startled, other then that they are fairly happy to roam around on the floor, and aviary or hutch will do fine, some people even keep them in a fishtank in their house, but i wouldnt suggest this (think its cruel),

like stuart said, they like the ground to be very dense, with plenty of hidey holes and places to make a nest.
hope this helps, any further questions just ask :-D

Yep, I was going to buy some eggs to incubate but the guy of farm stock said he had some 6 weeks old, I was surprised to see that my 6 young six week old Quail are nearly fully grown, almost ready for dinner. Worst thing is they are unbeleavably quiet, walk over my hand etc. and soooo cute, maybe i will just keep them a couple of weeks and watch

Hi All, Jap quails were introduced as a "Table Bird" and became popular with breeders as they were cheap. Some states initially had issues with Aviculturists keeping them and they were placed on restricted licence in some states. These days they are very popular as aviary ground birds.

Thanks
P.A
