Hi there,
just wanted to know if anyone can tell me-

I have a silkie on about half a dozen guinea fowl eggs, when they hatch grow up etc, will they fly away?

if they are raised from chicks in the one area.

Hello Kai, no they shouldn't fly away, infact you may find they will stay with the chooks. Guinea fowl are quite loyal and in our experience when they are born on a property they stay on that property. We sold a large number (200+) Keets to a large Vineyard and ALL stayed after release.

Thanks

but they probably just eat them from the vine any way.

Unlike chooks, the guinea fowl will not eat the grapes, and they do not crack about, they look for bugs, thus turning the leaves, exposing that side to the sun thus killing viruses etc

Vineyards are using them for pest control as a "green" alternative and as Broken Bird mentioned they help with plant disease control. We have supplied over 700 throughout Australia and have standing orders for 600 more. We breed Pearl (normal colour) Guineas for farming/crop use only hence they are no longer on our Price list.

Thanks
