Today I went to check on my Jap quail eggs and I dropped one; it broke open and I noticed that there was an embryo inside but it was smaller than I expected; not formed at all really just a gooey mass that was shaped sort of like a bird..... Had it died before hand and I not noticed or is something else happened? What to do i do with my other eggs? I had lost count of the days and was still turning them up until this afternoon.... WHOOPS

Sounds to be like they are not fertile and have been cooked, was the fluid inside and yellowy colour and smelly?

I assume you were using an incubator so its likely the temp was to high or low or the humidity was to high or low any of these can cause died in shell at any stage of development. You may have had a temp spike on 1 or 2 days or a low temp 1 or 2 days. Some eggs can survive this and some can't so you will just need to wait the full 18 days not including the day you set them
