Wanted to start breading Quails for there meat, maybe I would enjoy their company for a little, after some advice 8) 8) :lol: :o :shock: :shock: to get started thanks paul:-D

Hi Paul,
I haven't bred Japs, but kept two trios for their eggs. They were good meat birds too. Be prepared to be woken early if you keep a cock near your window. They were more frequent layers than my Isa Brown or Australorp chooks. Jap quail eggs are a reasonable size, and have creamy yolks. They only needed a small space, I rigged up an on demand feeder from an old soft drink bottle (see elsewhere on this site for references), and used a chicken waterer. I have read that it's hard to get Japs to sit, broodiness tends to have been bred out, so make sure you have some good clean nesting material and a place for them to nest.
