I was reading on a foreign web site I think and stumbled on a woman talking about a 'solid neck pattern' guinea fowl and she was asking if if the chicks would be split to the solid neck pattern and I was totally confused as I have never hear of a guinea fowl colour called that. I have looked it up and no mention anywhere except on that foreign site. Now I looked at the picture and the fowl looks exactly the same as the 36 I have out side running around? especially the pieds that have the purple neck colour but thats not a colour is it?

  Oh dear you really have stumbled onto the wrong site there  laughter.gif  not laughing at you just the thought of where you read that always makes us laugh. Ok there is no such colour or terminology or genetic significance with the neck colour on guinea fowl. More than half of Australias pied guinea fowl and split pied have the purple hue neck colouring now that's like 10's of thousands of them and not just in Australia. What happens is when someone has no understanding or knowledge of something in this case guinea fowls they simply make it up  now they also have no understanding of genetics which I guess is obvious as this neck colour has absolutely no affect on the keets colour nor is it a gene to have a "split" why because its wild type + pied this mean its the wild type colour + pied of ours and many other places guinea fowl. The breeders of guinea fowl (real ones) call these Pearl Pied or Pearl split to pied meaning they are carrying the gene hidden.

So to conclude NO such guinea fowl as a "solid neck pattern" nor is there Penguin keets or teddy bear keets all from the same book of stupidity

Its all just stupid and I see rollgoogle been wearing out google search with a lot of rubbish and dribble she needs to take up the barbies again  you can only hope she gets a life some day and give google a rest. In the mean time us adult breeders will get on with breeding guinea fowl
