Post subject:  no eggs this year

our guina fowl did not lay any eggs this year dose this happen from time to time?
any idears what i should do next year?

Could they have layed some in the garden or bush if you have any? I have heard these guys hide their nests in the bush or long grass.

yes have look very very well in the garden and bush but just did not come up with any and in the past they have sat on there egg so can see they are not running around and start look for them going to the nest but this year there was nothing
looks like i will need some new hens

Or they are too young to lay thinkerg.gif give them another season and if not some new hens as you said.

they are not to too young to lay got lots of eggs last year but nothing this year
still have the same number as last year
so will have to keep a eye out for some new one

Hi Craig, some hens can skip a season, they don't have to lay every year as part of their cycle.

This has happened to me as well and as pa said they layed the next year funny thing is they still mate with the males go figure.

Hi childofpoultry, Welcome to A.P.F. All Mature Hens will still come into season (so to speak) but not all will cycle. Usually if they miss a year they lay the next.
