Hi all ,
I am in the process of setting up a shed with cages in it that will hold 3 birds to a pen for the bob whites and pens that will house 6 jap to a pen . I am also building a pen for my partridge to be housed in . It will have lights that will be running for 15 hours a day to get them laying for most of the year .

What I need to know is will the partridge be ok in here and breed on artificial light ?

Will it help the bob white to lay longer ?

How big are the cages - pens? are you wanting more eggs for commercial reasons? Extended light will help in the shortest days in winter but thats it

Hi Chuker ,
The cage for the chukers is 1800 x 650 x 600 high and will have 6 birds in it . the quail cages are 400 x 300 x 300 high and will have 3 birds to a pen . I am wanting more eggs yes , as we eat them and eat a lot of the birds . And will be selling to birds as well .
The light is to try and get them laying for a longer time and because they are housed in a shed that dose not have a lot of outside light coming in .
