I have a dozen keets, when they are older could they be introduced to the 3 adults that I have and if so what age is best ?

What age should I keep the keets penned until , I was thinking about 4 mths old ?

When I let them out to free range will they join up with the other group or stay on their own ?

One of my adults has made herself a nest (our first :) ) and I was wondering when/if she is successful in hatching them should I just leave her to raise them and will she be ok as I have heard they are not good mothers.

Should I pen her with her babies or leave her free ?

Ok I apologise if these have been asked before but I am new here and didn't know where to find the answers.
Thanks

5-6 months old is best as they are all but full grown

Stay on thier own for quite some time maybe 12 months -2 years even longer

They are the worst mothers and if you leave them out they will all be taken by preditors

Thank you. I was going to google it but then I have to sort the wheat from the chaff to get the right answers.

Would it be ok to take the babies she hatches and raise them in the brooder or are they better with her in a pen?
Just planning ahead as we are building a new double chook/GF house with separate yards but we may not have them completed by the time the eggs hatch, I have a really small pen about 3mtrs square but I guess this is too small for her.

Cheers :)ps I only know horses these chooks and guinea fowls are a whole new thing LOL

Hey Fancythat.

I have no direct answers as I am new to the GF breeding side of things and am eager to pick the brains of those with more knowledge. A new hen acquisition recently started laying and I took 4 eggs from the nest and have placed them in an incubator as a hedge bet. She has 5 other eggs and still laying. I now have to wait 4 weeks and more.

I incubate Silkies and chooks ok so am expecting results with keets.

Yes in the brooder is the best way and the safest as mum may kill the keets accidently if you pen her up with them out of stress not deliberately.
