Post subject:  Keets walked in

My neighbour had 2 keets just stray in. He asked me if I lost any and he googled them and saw that they looked like keets.
They are quite young and a light silver grey colour.
He doesn't keep birds of any kind and asked me if I would take them on.
Me being the softy that I am now have 2 keets to look after. Along with chooks, ducks, geese, parrots, a cat and 2 dogs.
I have had adult fowl but when I let them out to free range with my chooks after 3 weeks or so locked up, they took off never to be seen again. I paid $18 each for them. Not happy about the money but what could I do. Poof...gone.

Any way, I googled what to feed them. I am not sure about the age but couldn't be more than 8wks old..if that.
I don't know anything about them.

Do I feed them Turkey crumble?
Do I keep them inside at night to keep them warm and safe?
Any help would be appreciated. I don't have any feed for them until tomorrow. What can I feed them today. No one is open.
Thanks in advance. I will post a photo of them today.

If you think they are under 6 weeks feed them turkey starter, if over that then turkey crumbles good or a good cracked grain is better

Yes I would if they are small

I have cockatiel seed and chook mixed grain.
I might mix the two and see how they go.

Well we can all have a laugh on this twit of a woman. [smilie=a_chuckle.gif]

I have never seen a Keet live before so I didn't know what this bird was. My neighbour said they had the same shape of a Keet and therefore thought they were it.
I had a good look at them after my coffee and my eyes were opened properly and guess what !!!

They are what looks like silver king quail.

I suppose they could be called a queet ? laughter.gif

Iv'e put them into the aviary.
I was such an idiot, I used to breed quail a few years ago. They were jap quail. I put them in the aviary too. Did well with them.
Well now I have 2 Queets and I have to find out what the sex is. If I hear one crow then I will know....I guess. ;)

How are the "queets" going?

Doing well. They roost up high on the perch and they have a good appetite.
I wish I could work this camera and Picasa out. I want to put some pics on here and I need to (want to) find out what the Queets are. I thought they were silver kings but they are taller and have a longer neck.
The colour and shape is the same and they are relatively quiet.
