Post subject:  Is this a record or common

I found a couple of GF eggs in my chook house and decided to leave them there in case they laid more, anyway they sat in the straw in the chook house for 6 weeks with the laying hens (chickens) hoping off and on to lay their eggs in the same nest.
I finally bought an incubator and put them in there along with 8 other chook eggs, the chook chicks hatched on Tuesday and guess what one GF has hatched so far and the other looks like it might too.

During the 6 weeks they were in the chook house we had some bloody hot days including several 40+, it is hot enough here in SE Qld as it is.
How is it possible they were viable, these are my first ever keets that I have hatched so pretty stoked and hope the little tackers survive.

I have just had some bantams hens hatch some babies so I am going to try and sneak the keet in tonight along with another bantam that hatched in the incubator too.

Yep its quite common but you will find the egg/s that hatch will be the last laid so they are the 'freshest' of the lot. Guineas eggs are very unique and not like any other fowl

I have hatched eggs 4-5 weeks old from guineas because the shell is very different to chooks ect... they last MUCH longer

One has survived and is looking good the other has hatched but doesn't look like it will make it. :(
