We started off with 3 females and 1 male, 1 of the females was taken by something but the others seem to be settled in well. I thought they were not laying and because they are seasonal I bought a dozen keets. The original 3 have hatched out 14 keets which we promptly took and put in the brooder to raise and hopefully sell, once we took those babies I found that they have started another nest and I have taken 10 of those eggs and put them in the incubator and they are sitting on at least another 10. They seem to be good at this egg business. I was wondering what happens if I leave them altogether , ie the babies will they inbreed and how much of a problem is this? They also seem to know that the keets in the brooder are theirs because they get very defensive if I handle them and they are within earshot to hear them squawk, had to fend them off the other day thought I was going to get my eyes scratched out LOL. I also have 1 keet being raised by the bantams was the only egg they hatched and I have 1 keet that I raised in the brooder with a little bantam , but the bantam is a cockerel so will be going, not sure what to do with the lone GF, don't think the others groups will accept them, maybe I can put them together to try and buddy up. How successful is something like this ? Thanks |

Thankfully I just sold the 14 keets I had as I have another 10 eggs due to hatch in the incubator this week and have someone wanting those ones too. |
