When I let the poultry out this morning, all was well with all the birds. The Guinea Fowl roost with the chooks at night, so no problem. Tonight when I went down to count heads and lock the chooks up along with the GF, I found a dead one. By the size of it I would say a cock. He was okay this morning. I was wondering if one of the geese did him in. They are very bossy lately and give all a bit of a chase and peck. Not happy Jan. Do they have a short life span? He was only about two years old. I have the Lilac pied. I even have a week old one right now hatched by a silky hen. I have now got only eight adults and I have 5 juveniles one of which is a hen. |

Geese can kill most ground fowls so I think that's what's happened in your case |

Thank you for your replies. I like my GF. More so than the geese. These geese are so bossy and bullies lately. I have never had that before. I feel it is time to get rid of the geese but my OH wants to keep them I tell him it is gewtting harder every year to sell goslings. I agree that it must be a goose or gander that did the deed. the guinea fowl was healthy, no sign of sickness. They are well fed and just a little bit spoiled. I have a girl on 24 eggs right now. I only have the lilac pied. I will be selling the keets. I have 6 keets running around now in the chook pen |
