Also for the record I have emailed a scan copy of my breeding book for my controlled study to a breeder in the US who has 47 years experience with guinea fowl. He has all the mutations available and all species inc vulturine guineas and he has studied genetics for more than 15 years. His reply is long and detailed so I won't post it but he has confirmed the gene is sex linked from my controlled study results. If someone out there with more than 47 years experience and who has studied genetics wants to step up and continue to claim a theory of autosomal recessive then please back it up with honest proof as no one has done that to date.

If it is only the "splits" that are together you should have gotten more cinnamons, I think it shows that probably most of the split cocks aren't even splits.

He should have yes if they were recessive so funny how you say ' probably most of the split cocks aren't even splits ' instead of saying it shows there are no split recessive hens why jump to that conclusion carlise? Are you saying theres no splits? or is it just selected to suit the recessive way of thinking. You guys make me laugh you twist these thing to suit your point of view which does not make it right, I bet your on another site with a different name hey

Genetics of Cinnamon & Silver (FACTS)

Correct geno symbols for Cinnamon & Silver (red eye)

c+= cinnamon and its sex linked
S= silver phenotype and its sex linked as it has to be

http://www.birdfarm.bravepages.com/sexlinkx.html

The article about shows that when a split sex-linked cock mated to a normal hen, that 50% of the hens will be sex-linked. That is why I jumped to the conclusion that most of the cocks probably weren't split, regardless of sex-linked or recessive genes. If all the cocks were true splits then (according to the references article above) approx 25% of the offspring would have been cinnamon.

No where did I say there are no splits. I did question wether the splits that were purchased were really splits. Can you please point out were I have twisted anything.

How much do you want to bet??? I find it easiest to use my real name on the forums, you can check some other sites and see. I don't have enough spare time to have multiple online personas.

Can you copy and paste where is says that? I see normal mated with sex linked and splits mated with sex linked??? I must be going blind.

In the screenshot of relevant section of http://www.birdfarm.bravepages.com/sexlinkx.html, the brother sister mating. The male parent is a heterozygous (ZBZs), in this case split purple, the mother is not carrying the purple sex-linked gene. The females bred show that 50% of them are purple.

Ok so found the reference after I got my glasses its 25% of chicks a play on 50% of hens  the glass is half full hey. If only the % worked so clean as that which they don't as we have read. The % increases with split to split but hang on the same article says ' females have no s gene ' so no split hens what the go there carlise?

If they were recessive wouldn't the hens be split also?

This is what some want you to believe but our controlled study has shown no split hens and this was confirmed by an expert of 47 years experience with genetic study experience. Carlise other than using the internet to find snippets can you tell us your experience and genetic study experience with guinea fowl please. I see your from Elimbah, Qld is that the Sunshine Coast? Have you sold so called splits in the past? Do you claim to have split cinnamon hens?
