Not quite the same as the other thread regarding chickens eating eggs but aside from the loss, is there anything actually wrong with chickens doing this? is it bad for them?

Hi Scooter, the short answer in no, infact they benifit from eggs as we do. We feed many of our birds hard boiled eggs including some poultry but never raw.

Thanks

the only thing wrong with is that you then never get any eggs for yourself, and once learnt, it is very had to stop.

by feeding the hard boiled eggs or crushed egg shells, they do not associate the food with the eggs they are laying!!

But saying that, my muscovies eat all the rotten eggs they are sitting on and never eat fresh eggs or steal eggs from other nests.

The same as sheep eat the after birth to keep prey away from their babies.

we don't feed ours eggs or egg shell and collect them twice a day, but we do have the time to do that.
