th_clap.gif Congrats

Whenever I get new chickens I keep them in their pen for a minimum of 5 days. That way they get to know their new home & learn that it's their safe place, then for the next 5 days I only let them out an hour before dark, so they get a little scratch time but then put themselves to bed, & then by the 3rd week they just automatically go into their own pen.

I have a 4 pen set up that has my Aracucanas in pen1, my Wheaten Marans in pen 2, my Leghorns & Ancona's in pen 3 & my Sussex & Plymouth Rock in pen 4, & each night they all put themselves to bed in their own pens.

Chickens learn pretty quickly if they're given the chance to learn. [smilie=a_chuckle.gif]

All they want to know is where their safe place is & once they know that you'll have no trouble getting them to go where you want them.

Cheers

Some Updates.

It took 8 weeks for the two groups to integrate as one group.

It took 11 weeks for the Wyandotte bantams to start lay eggs.

The OEG bantams still do not lay eggs.

Hope it will assist others when they introduce new OEG bantams.

Best Regards

for clarity:

The 8 weeks were counted from the day the OEG bantams were free ranging (out of the pen).
The 11 weeks were counted from the day the OEG bantams were free ranging (out of the pen).
